EVERY ANGEL IS TERRIFYING

EVERY ANGEL IS TERRIFYING

The Mission

The Mission

The sky is bright with morning.  Soon I will leave Louisville.  The reason for our presence here has been accomplished.  We welcomed a new family member into the World.  The World is much bigger than our family and we are part of it.  There are many generations before us.  We are their representatives, their voices, speaking a welcome by our presence, our delight in the form of Finlea’s tiny face.  She has a ways to go before she understands language.  I know that she understands the kindness in the voices, bidding her welcome.

Aunts and Uncles were present, Grandparents, and cousins — all gathered around her bundled sleeping form.

What is she to become?  She will be shaped in mind and heart by this world.  Her sense of beauty, of meaning, of the finitude of her life and of the opportunity that will be hers to pass life on.  She will be nourished by this World.

And she will create worlds.
