Interlude: Che vuoi?
The 1968 song was written by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham for Alex Chilton of the Boxtops. The “Cry like a baby” tagline came to Oldham in the early morning hours at Porky’s Diner across the street from the studio. Penn and Oldham returned to the studio and finished the song in a few hours of work. Oldham played keyboards on “Cry Like a Baby” in addition to co-writing it. Chilton, who sang lead vocals on the song, was only 17 years old at the time of recording. — Wikipedia

The lyric line of the story is about a failed male-female relationship. The lose of love discloses to the male partner what he truly wants. This is the lynch pin question. Che vuoi? (What do you want?) I often discover what it is that I really want, by means of loss. In ordinary circumstances what I feel that I want, — is not what I truly desire. When I remember what I once had — then I know more clearly what i want.
The other is essential to reflect back that which one truly desires.
