Turn The Page
Sunday is the first day of 2023. As we mark time, the New Year has begun. We chose to spend New Year’s Eve dining at Foxfire in Geneva. We were seated at our table promptly in accord with our reservation and expectation. The table service was as efficient, our server communicated a warmth that was more than professional. Since Foxfire is a steakhouse, we both chose prime rib from the menu.
An unexpected bonus of the dining experience was a four piece band, comprised of saxophone, clarinet, drum kit, and keyboard players. The band members were “senior citizens,” males, obviously comfortable playing at Foxfire. The band covered well known pop ballads, a number by Johnny Cash, I Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty, and some that I did not know. The styling of the music, the unabashed presentation was perfect complement to the intimacy of the dining room.
Thus the page is turned… Another year is before us. We cannot do without a song. This one by Cher, Believe, is about life and love. grieving what is past and finding the strength to begin again.
