Laceration

Laceration

What kind of
immanence or transcendence
do lovers attain
that lacerates them
while uniting them?

MORAL VALUE IS THE OBJECT OF DESIRE.

On this topic I am speaking of “undefined existence”
Desire is sometimes for a defined object, sometimes…
Opposition God, beloved (transcendent, defined)
to nothingness, feminine nakedness…

–excerpt On Nietzsche, Notes by Georges Bataille, p. 307

Decided to “sleep in” today.  More rest helps recovery from a sinus condition.  Decongestant medication helps.  Kudos for good medication to the pharmaceutical companies…

Continued to work my way to the end of Bataille’s great book: the words/thought of Nietzsche raised to a higher level.  These words fascinate me.  Is this what takes place (sometimes) when we suffer in the context of most intimate of relationships?  What does this mean?  “Meaning” is the responsibility that each bear’s to give account to oneself.  Moral value attained through pain…

This seems an apt tune for today.  Cuts Like A Knife by Bryan Adams.

Cuts Like A Knife

By Bryan Adams

Drivin’ home this evening
I coulda sworn we had it all worked out
You had this boy believin’
Way beyond the shadow of a doubt

Then I heard it on the street
I heard you mighta found somebody new
Well who is he baby – who is he
And tell me what he means to you

I took it all for granted
But how was I to know
That you’d be letting go

Now it cuts like a knife
But it feels so right
It cuts like a knife
But it feels so right

There’s times I’ve ‘bin mistaken
There’s times I thought I’d ‘bin misunderstood
So wait a minute darlin’
Can’t you see we did the best we could

This wouldn’t be the first time
Things have gone astray
Now you’ve thrown it all away

Now it cuts like a knife
But It feels so right
It cuts like a knife
But it feels so right

Composed by Bryan Adams, James Douglas Vallance
