It Might Be Great

Choosy Taste
If it depended on my choice,
I think it might be great
To have a place in Paradise;
Better yet-outside the gate.
— excerpt The Gay Science. Prelude in Jokes, Cunning and Revenge by Friedrich Nietzsche, pub. 1887, trans. by Walter Kaufmann
April 2nd. Yesterday was my birthday. I contemplated wax candles on the cake. From the backside the candles read ’47’, (the 7 was backwards)… Forty seven years old was a good thought, but just a thought.
Unaccountably I am still here.
On Tuesday Trump is to be arraigned. I have heard it reported that he will not be seen in handcuffs. When is an indictment for crimes, less than an indictment? This. The system “bends over backwards” to finesse things for one-of-their-own. It is hardly worth writing that society is to be divided more than ever by the inexorable grind of the judicial system. Those-who-follow form up behind their champion.
I would rather not follow anyone. It is impossible to see anything standing in the back of a mob. One is moved, along blind. Even if most believe he is bound for Paradise…
I remember a question voiced by a friend, many years ago.
Why would you want to go to heaven? None of your friends are going to be there.
Yes! There is a tune to hold onto. This song by Night Ranger, Sister Christian.
