The Surface

This is the morning after. No one expected yesterdays avalanche of rejection registered by the ballot box. Still the future remains uncertain, and there are no guarantees that the storm has passed. This could be the eye of the storm. The Trump administration will hold power for two more years. The capitalist bias of present day American society favors the rapacious egoism of the administration. Nothing changes “on a dime”.
I expect that our traditional American allies around the world are celebrating more intentionally than we can understand. For them the stakes of the future are palpable and they recognize that there can be no return to “the way things were”. America is no longer the hegemon it once was for Europe and Asia.
Finally it begins to feel like fall in the out-of-doors. Today I have leaves to mulch, mulch to locate where it becomes hummus to renew the garden beds.
Enough of irony! Given: surfaces conceal a reality which will manifest in due time. What is life if not to take pleasure in beauty that comes to us from the surface?
This tune is an anthem for these times! Jackie DeShannon performs Put A Little Love In Your Heart.
Life is so rich.
