You And I Must Make A Pact
Heard this song on the radio yesterday. The lyrics keep coming back to me. I believe that it is much more than a simple love song. How difficult it is to make a pact with oneself to respect, to honor the integrity of one’s own one life. How difficult it is to accept ourselves, our own problems, our own defeats. By extension we must accept others, and make such a promise to other human beings. This is what we must do. We must do the difficult work of forgiveness, of holding on, as our own advocate and as an advocate for others around us. How transformational it is to hear one’s name called, to know that one has a place in someone else’s life.
This is particularly the case in these days. We have an uber-bully in the White House. Life is difficult as many forces and trends conspire to reduce the individual to that of an angry foot-soldier of the Right or of the Left. ….engaged in social media combat obeying their behind the scenes puppet-masters.
I’ll reach out to you. Togetherness, well that’s all I’m after.
