Political Meeting
Saturday morning and the first snow of winter lies as a diaphanus sheet upon the ground. Technically winter begins with the solstice of December 21st. No matter– cold, ice, hibernation, rest, reflection is the natural way, the rhythm dictated by Nature. I welcome the coming season. There is no clear-cut beginning and end to any season. The seasons are seamlessly connected. Like a handshake, each melds into the other, an exchange, a hand-off of life.
I will attend a political meeting this morning in Grayslake. My intent is to be present as a support for Brad Schneider our Representative in Congress. Brad is a Democrat. He stands in opposition to the severe, Draconian policies of the President, and his quasi Fascist supporters.
My opposition to the President has been noted in earlier posts. He is the poster child for an economic system that has engulfed our society with it’s voracious, infinite, appetite for profit. The system, –a form-of-life, a way of relating to one another is called Capitalism. Do not think of Adam Smith’s description of Capitalism. Adam Smith could not imagine high-speed trading, or the global effect of capital as wielded by the uber-wealthy.
So I go to support Brad by my physical presence.
Are we not all at the barricades? I know there is no physical Bastille to be taken.
There is a possibility that this plague will have to run it’s course. We must build strength for the long journey.
