Summer Sizzle
A visit to the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis, just outside of Milwaukee is immersion in a great festival. Seduction is the word. The sights and sounds are counterpoint to the mundane of one’s life.
Milwaukee Wisconsin has a reputation for good beer. I ordered two cups of Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy. The waitress said, “Bet you’ve never seen this before…,” as she placed my cup under the tap. The cup filled from the bottom with beer. There is a hole in the bottom of the cup designed for a bottom pour. The cup is kept secure with a rubberized magnetic disc while the beverage is consumed. I asked, what is the advantage to your company? The answer: Twenty more pours per keg! Waste is eliminated. The clever approach delighted me. Twenty more pours per keg comes to an extra $140.00. Wow! The beer was pretty good too.
Took our seats in the Budweiser Pavilion. How fortunate to catch a really good band, Party Anthem. There are many average to mediocre local cover bands. Party Anthem has raised the bar. I would have paid hear that performance! The enthusiasm of the vocalist was infectious, the high notes soared, the drummer solidly anchored the tunes, and two guitars layered a indescribable ecosystem of sound. I’ve included a promotional youtube video published by Party Anthem that affords insight into their approach, and a small sampling of their sound. The odds are long that one will by chance happen upon a group of artists who hit that sweet spot of seduction in their work. Sometimes you have to be lucky. The best things take us by surprise.

It is philosophical seeing you experience such joy.
Michael, I think that you’d agree that the life of the mind is worth the effort. Something that is essentially free, costing only the effort to pay attention. Party on!
Enjoyed this post. Festivals are a fun occasion to enjoy some great food and drink while also experiencing the entertaining sounds of local musical talent, and intermingling with friendly strangers from all walks of life. Thanks for sharing your experience Jerry.
