A Bridge Over
This afternoon I feel blue. There is a lot of funky-shit going down. I am aware of too much given the ever present cell phone news feed, offering adrenaline prompting content, just a swipe away. Most of the time I resist the temptation. A sure recipe for misery is to allow one’s mind-space to become cluttered with the food-fight of rhetoric between our President and whomever he has decided to attack on a given day.
This afternoon I caught a partial report on the radio about pipe bombs that were sent to President Obama, Senator Clinton and others. A audio clip of the Presidents response was featured. In my judgment his anger toward the unknown perpetrators paled by comparison with his rage-filled words of hours earlier, directed toward the hapless immigrants from Central America walking across Mexico toward our border.
Life becomes surreal on any given day, depending on what one allows into ones mind-space.
I offer this tune, a proven refuge of many years ago. I was in my early 20s, living in Japan, struggling to learn a new language, feeling very alone. These meaningful lines, and soaring melody were my lifeline.
You and I always need a lifeline.
Thank you John Legend.
