A New And Essential World
And so it begins. What begins, remains to be seen.
A bipartisan committee has finished a compromise bill that addresses border security concerns, as well as funds the government. The Democrats appear to have turned the Presidents demand to have ability to create unlimited detention centers along the border. A cap is established in the bill to prevent a nationwide roundup of law abiding immigrants for deportation. Will the President sign the bill into law? Will the government again partially shut down, sacrificing many thousands of citizens and their families, until the President achieves his political objective?
This turning point, this fold point of a new world unconcealed, will be recognized in retrospect.
These words by Martin Heidegger:
Whenever art happens–that is, whenever there is a beginning–a thrust enters history; history either begins or starts over again.
…….Art is history in the essential sense that it grounds history.
Art lets truth originate. Art, founding preserving, is the spring that leaps to the truth of beings in the work. To originate something by a leap, to bring something into being from out of its essential source by a founding leap–this is what the word “origin” [Ursprung, literally primal leap] means.
What is our truth, the essence of what the United States of America will mean in the post-industrial, globalized age of climate change, where every place communicates with every other place at light speed, and shares a common fate?
