I knew better. No need to breathe a sigh of relief to hear that ICE was ordered to pause the raids on farms, restaurants, hospitality businesses in the execution of the roundup of individuals without clear cut legal status. There is uncanny resemblance between this administrations will to hunt down, to exile (breaking all ties to family) individuals present without proof of citizenship, and the Nazi program to exterminate German Jews.
In the brief interlude between the news of a letup of the efforts directed at farms and hospitality the President said there will be a doubled effort to excise immigrants in the big cities, Los Angles, Chicago, New York which featured massive “No Kings” protest demonstrations.
Let us continue to press forward, to send this bedraggled old-man-wannabe-king packing, disavowing the prevarication, the ethos of violence that he represents!
The future belongs to us. We will get through this…

Gary I am happy to include your comment. Libertyville Days is a celebration of an immigrant community. The original occupants where the town now stands are nowhere to be seen. No one invited their descendants to the party. I suppose that is the American way. Our protest is our way of insisting that the shabby treatment (murderous) of immigrants has to end. I hope that you’d agree with that, since your ancestors came from somewhere else.
As to having anger in one’s heart, it is reasonable to be angry with cruelty. Wouldn’t you agree? Purity of heart is beside the point…
As we descend into the real life version of Idiocracy, of course we should just play along, go to a nice country fair and ignore the cadre of morons in power who are destroying our nation as fast as they can.
On the other hand, Trump’s myopic supporters will justify ANYTHING and ANY BEHAVIOR. They will justify sending US Marines into a situation where they are not even allowed per the US Constitution, but hey, that’s okay. I wonder if Mr. Smith agrees with Dark MAGA. Why not? If a person can justify the kind of behavior we see on a daily basis coming out of DC, no doubt they can also justify extreme violence against anyone who disagrees the His Royal Orangeness. Trump’s the one who has promised vengeance against his enemies. He promotes violence, so when a state representative and her husband are murdered, they must have just been asking for it as democrats. Hell yes I’m angry. I’m angry at the stultifying numbness of people who will allow and even wholeheartedly support the destruction of everything decent in this nation along with the ultimate destruction of our entire planet. Any rational, thinking person would and should be fucking angry.
