Abomination
Find it hard to write anything this morning.
Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide, a twice-charged seller-of-women-for-sex. The first charge was accommodated by a brief stint under house arrest with daily “release for work at the office” privileges. The second time around, his wealth and favors-owed by his powerful friends showed little promise of another slap on the wrist.
So this trafficker in human flesh, hung himself.
The dark and terrifying truth behind this grim tale is the circle of associates of this man includes individuals at the highest levels of commerce and government. Naturally they’d go to ground, keeping their silence about their association with this vendor of flesh. The President of the United States is in that circle of former acquaintances.
Is this guilt by association? Yes it is. When it comes to human trafficking, I think association is quite enough. Word of mouth has always been the best source for customers.
So this is what we have come to. Great wealth and privilege has evolved a class that is above the law and to whom standards of morality and decency do not apply.
Is this not the natural, the inevitable result of laissez-faire Capitalism?
Anything is permitted as long as there is profit to be made……………..

I have a feeling that the writing within in these blogs is becoming more adamant with regard to the body politic. You have never been shy about expressing your opinion of the current administration, but you have, for the most part, tempered your distress. It feels as if the gloves are coming off, or perhaps I’m projecting myself into your thoughts on this page. As you know I have been fairly vociferous about my own opinions regarding the resident of the White House, but the carnage, both physical and emotional, that is ravaging this country has me incensed beyond words. That millions of people cheer as he hurls his own feces at the world, is mind numbing. The time of massive civil unrest may just be getting underway and if perchance the horrifying excuse for a human being wins a second term, I know that without hesitation, I will join the resistance to begin a fight that I feel will dwarf the Civil War. It will be a battle not just for the soul of this nation but very the existence of our species. There will be no winner in this conflict, but I will have no choice.
Tobin, I do not know where these events will take us. The Epstein affair horrified me. There is a darkness in high places, that has been at work for some time, tacitly approved, abetted by the wealthy and powerful. Great wealth and power are the same thing in the type of society that we have. I think that is the nub of the matter. And I doubt this breaks along partisan lines. The hope that I have in life is anchored in friends and family and in little else.
“And so it goes” as Vonnegut often said.
