All That Matters…
Is there more to say? The only way to know – sit, and prepare to say it.
I took several good photos yesterday while strolling around the Fabyan estate Japanese Tea Garden. Few people were about so the wild life were stirring. And there were the summer blossoms at the height of their magnificence. Patience and good fortune produced some keeper images. Yesterday was a hot humid mid-summer day as is today. It is possible with the iphone weather app to visually monitor weather events, to see and predict the arrival of any thunderstorm. That is no unmitigated blessing though. The current network of supply chains, communications, the exponential increase in productivity and general affluence — is a direct driver of global warming, the increased incidence of extreme weather events. I am sure the residents of eastern Kentucky would be willing to do without an iphone if by magic, the dead could be brought back to life, do without Amazon if homes lost in the recent flooding could be restored. The truth is, all of us would need to give up the devices that allow connectivity and convenience, and very much more.
All that matters is the heat of the sun…
Yes, that is an absolutely true statement. Universally true in all contexts. The sun, our star supplies the energy necessary for all of life. The earth’s orbits in that “sweet spot,” close enough, but not too close, to allow this rock to be hospitable to the carbon based life forms that we have known. This could be otherwise and usually is. Our solar system alone has some examples.
All that matters is the heat of the sun, and both being here to feel it.
So what is it going to be? What do you and I desire? Do we want to be here to feel it? Ask the same question by proxy for future generations? Do you think they’d want to be present to feel the sun’s warmth, surrounded by wildlife, and flowers?
If so, — we must rapidly change our accustomed way of life.
