Listen To The Music
I stayed up late last night to watch the breaking news on ABC: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis read a RICO indictment against former president Donald Trump, accusing him and a circle of associates of attempting to steal a presidential election. Upon reflection it seems poetic-justice, (if there is any justice in this life) — a African American female prosecutor on nationwide TV accusing an old white guy of mafia-like activities. How the tables have turned since the 18th and mid-19th century when Black females were bought and sold in the slave markets of the now “red states” in the South.
And the reaction of Trump supporters: Why this is simply “piling on.” Never mind the facts, that the intent demonstrated by many day’s of phone calls, texts, etc. to Georgia state officials by the president and his circle of co-conspirators were none other than what they appeared to be: a burgeoning over throw of an election.
Trump supporters do not want to be lured away by the facts. It’s better to have wax in one’s ears, so that you no longer hear the music.
I hear the music, and it is getting louder.
They, however, thought
that the senses might lure them away
from their own world,
from the cold realm of “ideas,”
to some dangerous southern island
where they feared that
their philosopher’s virtues might melt away
like snow in the sun.
Having “wax in one’s ears”
was then almost a condition of philosophizing;
a real philosopher no longer listened to life
insofar as life is music;
he denied the music of life
— it is an ancient philosopher’s superstition
that all music is sirens’
music.

We hear what we want to hear. We read what fits our personal narrative. We join online groups who become family and believe in the true laws of personal freedoms and GOD. We justify any action that falls within our personal point of view. Everything else is just noise made up by the non-believers to distract us from what we know is “truth” and “reality”. If we could only eliminate those who refuse to see the world the way we do, life would be a paradise. Death to the infidels! Peace and prosperity will reign on earth once they are gone. Long live the Donald.
[AAGGGHHHH!!!!!!]
You nailed it! Great piece. I feel bad for people like Bill. I don’t think that they will ever get it.
