Nomination For Man Of The Year
I know this is early or late, depending on your perspective. The occupant of the White House was chosen person of the year 2016. I am getting a jump on the 2017 pick. With every new year, it’s a new contest. Nothing rules out anyone getting the nod. A past recipient may become a current contender, if he has topped himself.
Ask yourself who has created the most national havoc in the last few months? Who has been a source of mind-bending, idiosyncratic utterances? Who has morphed a aggressive businessman persona into one threatening blackmail towards congress unless they give him what he desires? Who threatened “fire and fury like the world has never seen” toward a small, desperately impoverished countries leader with whom he shares a mutual dislike?
I’ll not supply an image of my nomination, but simply an empty frame. In fact you may supply the image of your own nominee. Odds are mine and yours would be the same. Here are some quotes that may be familiar:
“Curse us and crush us, my precious is lost!”
” I’m not listening… I’m not listening..”
“Kill him! Kill him! Kill them both! And then we take the precious… and we be the master!”
“Myyy PRECIOUSSS.”
Enough!
Thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien for apt language for my parody. And yes, I am old fashioned to use the anachronistic “man-of-the-year” language. Anyway no female qualifies even close to my nominee.
