Paradise Enough
While the idea of paradise is on my mind, I’ll reference Lake Geneva Wisconsin. If you live in the Chicago or Milwaukee area you are familiar with the town, at the end of a gorgeous lake. The Persian word for paradise meant a walled garden. Lake Geneva is remarkable for it’s beautiful lake, and for the public spaces that are walkable, inviting. Sights and experiences that are new are there for discovery. The expansive lawn of the shady lakeside park offers solitude for reading, or the company of family even on a busy Sunday
afternoon.
At the intersection of Main Street and Broad one can linger for a while and enjoy the parade of Harley Davidson motorcycles that riders bring into town. They are eye candy of color and chromium. Who does not recognize the lopping rumble of a Harley V-twin engine?
I must mention Galerie Matisse, and Matisse Too which are on Main Street. Galerie Matisse has art work of all kinds, and rivals any of the upscale galleries on Superior Street in Chicago. So much form, color, and meaning is there to be appreciated from the displayed work. Bob is the proprietor and has been in the art business for over forty years. He loves his work. We’ve had a number of delightful conversations about art, and about his selections for display. So, if you stop by, ask for Bob. Matisse Too is adjacent and specializes in whimsical, odd, playful art. Sandy is the proprietor, Bob’s wife.
Life is short, and time spent focusing our minds and emotions on beauty and meaning is time well spent. Spend a day at Lake Geneva and make that “kid in you” happy.
