Plague Journal, Emasculated Society
It is society, our tame, mediocre, gelded society, in which a natural human being, who comes from the mountains or from the adventures of the sea, necessarily degenerates into a criminal.

Another day, a predictable concatenation of events, the collapse of a column of dominoes leading to the confirmation of the new Supreme Court Justice. She has answered confirmation hearing questions with non-answers, the end result of the confirmation vote is beyond doubt. Onward! We all join the sprint to have the high court finally dispose of what remains of the ACA. Twenty three million persons stand to lose their health insurance coverage. Next we will go through the motions of having an election. Will that be a charade as well?
The feelings come, rising from an assessment of events. Have we learned to recognize the presence of evil ? Twenty three million, exposed to ill health with negligible means to meet the expense.
Somehow this tune feels right. A dark field of resistance, one’s love light is so far away, — yet the protagonist fights on, resolute, undeterred on his quest. He must go on, make his way by risking everything: ‘getting rich’ or ‘getting busted.’ Odysseus still makes a way home. These circumstances, a variety of hell, but “you got to go through hell
before you get to heaven.”
“Got to keep on keepin’ on.”
Jet Airliner
By The Steve Miller Band
Leavin’ home, out on the road
I’ve been down before
Ridin’ along in this big ol’ jet plane
I’ve been thinkin’ about my home
But my love light seems so far away
And I feel like it’s all been done
Somebody’s tryin’ to make me stay
You know I’ve got to be movin’ on
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Don’t carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay
Goodbye to all my friends at home
Goodbye to people I’ve trusted
I’ve got to go out and make my way
I might get rich you know I might get busted
But my heart keeps calling me backwards
As I get on the 707
Ridin’ high I got tears in my eyes
You know you got to go through hell
Before you get to heaven
Big ol’ jet airliner
Don’t carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay
Touchin’ down in New England town
Feel the heat comin’ down
I’ve got to keep on keepin’ on
You know the big wheel keeps on spinnin’ around
And I’m goin’ with some hesitation
You know that I can surely see
That I don’t want to get caught up in any of that
Funky shit goin’ down in the city
Big ol’ jet airliner
Don’t carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Don’t carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay
Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah
Big ol’ jet airliner
Don’t carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Carry me to my home
Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner
Cause it’s there that I belong
