Plague Journal, Laughing And Crying
My daughter walked in a nearby park several days ago. At a distance on the manicured green ball park outfield she noticed a round dark shape. Upon closer examination, it appeared to be a creature belonging in the Braeburn Marsh not very far away. She hurried back to the house to summon me with my camera.
I took several photos of the creature. We carefully maneuvered its round dark form into a large polyvinyl rectangular container, and with another round polyvinyl container placed over it to assure us, we lifted and carried it to the nearby creek. It appeared delighted to swim away, again in its natural habitat the wetland. My daughter speculated that it was exhausted after walking across the baseball diamond when we found it at the far edge of the outfield.
Reflecting upon this rare encounter with wildlife I realized that the image which I captured had uncanny resemblance to another image on the cover of the last issue of The New York Times Magazine. How to tell them apart? The snapping turtle was Zen-like, silent, a brooding dark face with beady eyes. The other creature, apt to gibber on about “antifa provocateurs,” I suppose it belongs to another swamp…..

The similarities do not end at the image. The snapper can remove a finger in less than a second with a vicious and lightening fast bite. William Barr will remove your constitutional rights in less than a heartbeat . Both have a relatively calm exterior, yet both also have the capacity to do lasting and perhaps irreparable damage to any human. In other words, they need to be handled with caution. The only difference to me is that the snapper’s self-defense mechanism is a part of nature, whereas Bill Barr’s underhanded, intentional, and nefarious actions should place him in prison.
Agree absolutely. Barr is a religious fundamentalist, and there is no limit to his self righteousness.
