Plague Journal, Walking
A friend who practices walking about town for fitness, for interest, suggested that I consider the activity for my own benefit. The advice came as we walked together to the Starbucks on Randall Road and back. On a hot, sunny summer’s day the conversation, passing scenery, and natural exercise made the experience pleasing. “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” would you not agree?
For the following two successive days I walked the route to my pleasure. Since life is lived between the continuum of pleasure and pain, why not chose delight when choice seems within reason?
Yesterday I walked past a marsh, the wetland that flows into the Fox River. This area is a Nature preserve, an opportunity for the kids residing in the towns of Batavia and Geneva to observe wild life, to catch bullfrogs, and try their hand at fishing. I captured several photos of wild flowers growing at the edge of this wetland. The Blackeyed Susans are beginning to bloom. As well Milkweed blossoms are impressive in their unique form.
Also added are photos of a Hosta showing the migration of drops of water across the surface of a leaf, to the soil where the moisture will be welcomed by the plant.
Nature is exquisite in form and color.
