No Mere Players
No post was attempted yesterday. At the time I would be writing I was being prepared for anesthesia, several hours of sleep, while a Cardiac Electrophysiology specialist treated a circuit malfunction of my heart that was causing an irregular heartbeat. The method used was indicative of a benefit of knowledge. For human beings knowledge is the lynch-pin for a good life. A procedural sheath was inserted into the vein of my leg, providing access to the heart, for the electrical mapping, and the cauterization of the problem area. Easy enough to simply describe, but as a practical matter requiring years of medical education and supervised practice. Now for me a day or so of recovery is called for.
Dr. Zardkoohi and the team of nurses and the anesthesiologist at Northwestern Medicine will always be recipients of my gratitude.
The world moves on, that is, what we mean by “world” the complex relationship between Nature and human civilization is always transforming in more ways than we could possibly comprehend. We are all participants. You and I have our bit roles. Never doubt that you matter, that your actions and words make a difference. For each of us only death “stops the show.” Still — the show goes on.
