Serendipity
Our first full day in Coloma Michigan. The afternoon was spent by the lake, – walking and observing the life happening at the interface of water and land, by the ancient dunes, and in the lake enjoying the inflatable kayak.
Spending these days by the lake, three generations of our family is serendipitous, a fluke of good fortune. To just be, – to pay attention to one another, to observe the ebb and flow of the generations, adapting to the physical, temporal, to the emotional atmosphere of our lives. Not that different really, than the gulls that we encountered while walking on the beach. The ancient dunes seem to keep watch over us as we walk. The dunes, divine-like manifestation of the earth, – but they too change.
The kayak was a delight, a four year old child between two adults, and two old grand children in tow. And that tiny image of a kayak on the horizon, yes – that’s two of us, a quarter mile or so out in the lake. The lake was calm on that day.
The photos speak for themselves.
