Taken By Surprise
A visit to the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market is something we look forward to. On the street between vendor stalls, I remember the excitement of childhood: the sky is blue, I hear the conversation and laughter of our Batavia neighbors. A majority of us work indoors. Is is not natural to be out of doors, engaged in a collaborative activity with others? Several generations ago our great grandparents earned their living directly from the soil. We should not romanticize that way of life. And we wouldn’t desire to turn back time. Still it just feels good to be with others in a festival kind of atmosphere.
As usual on Saturdays at the market we purchase tacos, or quesadillas for breakfast. We found seating across the street from a local artist, David Fraccaro, who was covering Elvis songs. Elvis is remembered, and his music is loved by many. More than just another successful vocal artist, Elvis with his inimitable warmth introduced the sensuality of Blues to the American mainstream. Elvis Presley was a sensational performer, and he died too young
All that is to say that we were entranced by David Fraccaro’s rendition of a number of Elvis’s hit songs. Avoiding the over-reach of the typical Elvis impersonator, Fraccaro performed the tunes with a measured sincere passion. I simply had to introduce myself to him when he finished his set to convey my gratitude for the quality of his performance.
David Fraccaro is a Batavia neighbor. I suspect that he would not object if I shared with you the link to his consulting business. CLICK HERE
