The Final Shootout
Saturday Sept 24th was the final Nitrous Shootout of the season at Great Lakes Dragway. The dragstrip is a gathering place for those addicted to creating compression of time over a quarter mile. A final big race day of the season drew a sizable crowd of crew members, drivers, families, and fans–all deserving of the designation “racers”. Designing, constructing, tuning, pit preparation, and launching a machine that will operate at the ragged edge of materials, the laws of physics, and human ingenuity–takes a single minded will to excel. It’s a discovery of both man and machine. Josh joined me along with Myles. This was Myles first visit to the track.
These photos imperfectly convey, the sound, the fury, the beauty, and the camaraderie that Myles witnessed.
