Zoo Of Humankind
We visited the Cosley Zoo yesterday. Cosley Zoo is a small zoo in Wheaton, Illinois, scaled for toddlers and older children. At the zoo you get a close-up look at animals, wild and domestic. The visit was greatly enjoyed. Our grand daughter certainly will remember for many years the animals which are cared for, which live in relationship to all of us.
Are we not all related? Life in many forms comes from the same earth and is sustained by the same source of energy. Every life-form must consume energy in order to live, to pass on to its young the genetic code of it’s particular being, and the behaviors which must be learned in order to survive. Homo Sapiens are not exceptions to the exigencies of life. The basics apply to us as well.
Could we conceive of the different cultures as discrete habitats for special forms of life, cultural styles of expression including cuisine, music, fashion, and certainly language?
Then what would we say of these United States?
How do I envision humankind in a globalized world of finite material resources, but infinite in creativity, and generosity and hatred?
This tune is a standard under which we can continue our journey…
