To Dream And To Dare
WHAT ARE MY TRUE DESIRES?
–& what can I DO before it is too late?…
Do you possess both imagination & Will,
can you both dream & dare
–or are you the dupe of an impotent fantasy?
Any day now, vast numbers of Americans are going to realize
they’re being force-fed a load of reactionary boring hysterical
artificially-flavored crap.
We could have revolt in our times
–& in the process, we could realize many
of our True Desires…
Here’s our program:
1. Work on the realization that psychic racism has replaced
overt discrimination as one of the most disgusting aspects
of our society. Imaginative participation in other cultures,
especially those we live with is called for.
2. Abandon all ideological purity. Cleanse the temple of vain idols, get rid
of the Horrible Old Men…
3. We need music, totally insane but life-affirming, rhythmically subtle yet
powerful, & we need it NOW.
4. …wean ourselves away from evangelical materialism, a banal 19th century
Scientism. “Higher states of consciousness” are not SPOOKS invented by evil priests…
We need a practical kind of “mystical anarchism,”
devoid of all New Age shit-&-shinola, heretical, and anti-clerical.
– avid for new technologies of consciousness, a democratization of shamanism,
intoxicated & serene.
5. Time for a major step forward in sexual-political awareness,
an explosive reaffirmation of polymorphic eros.
–a literal glorification of the senses, a doctrine of delight.
Abandon all world-hatred and shame.
6. Experiment with new tactics…
Emphasize practical, material & personal benefits
of radical networking…
Surely a bit of sabotage & imaginative disruption
is never out of place.
Plot & conspire, don’t bitch & moan.
7. The question of land refuses to go away.
How can we separate the concept of space
from the mechanisms of control?
The territorial gangsters, the Nation/States,
have hogged the entire map.
Who can invent for us a cartography of autonomy,
who can draw a map that includes our desires?

Has my morning dissipated to a waste? Did I lift these lines from T.A.Z. believing (imagining) that I comprehended the meaning, that the ideas were worth working with? I have been seduced by the imagination before, a delusion about which I later felt regret. On the other hand, there is inevitability to life, what is, has been “in the cards” all along… Therefore I’ll forge ahead with this posting.
Jacques Lacan, the French Freudian psychologist-philosopher wrote that the seminal question to be asked: Che vuoi? Translated “What do you want?” Each of us is a mystery to ourselves, and the most important thing to know is – what is it that I truly desire?
I read in the Japan Times today about the large scale protests in L.A. against ICE, resistance to the policy of the Trump regime to round up, to summarily exile, any and all who appear to lack rock-solid citizen status in the United States. Certainly everyone in other states who feel the sublimated racism in these official violent actions, are watching what happens in L.A.
The proverbial elephant-in-the-room for all adults not intoxicated with the Kool-Aid of an ethnically cleansed, old-white-guy-rule society (patriarchy) is the question: What do I really want for my future, for that of my family and friends? And what can I do right now?
Bey suggests an outline for dreaming and daring at the same time!
