To Tweak The Flow
Words are a lifeline: The connecting link between my inner awareness, the layered consciousness, and memories which we loosely call “self” to other selves, and to “the world. ” The connectors are a matter of words, grammar and syntax. Therefore a deft touch with words is key to becoming more real, the process of self definition. I need words. I need you. And I must practice without end if I desire to become a robust, resilient, mammal of the species homo sapiens.
I am attracted to others who write well, better than I, and who are engaged with ideas that overlap those which fate dictates I wrestle with. I subscribe to an email newsletter which is issued weekly by Rob Brezsny. I have not met Rob personally, to drink coffee with him at Starbucks. I am certain that we’d greatly enjoy a face to face conversation. Rob’s newsletter, FREEWILL ASTROLOGY is written with elan, as if his pen dances, like swordplay. The differences in our backgrounds amount to a productive friction, allowing my POV to shift, perhaps to rotate just enough…
These lines were abstracted from the January 28th edition entitled, Seeking the Big Picture. Enjoy!
- be cheerfully cooperative with the primal flow.
- derive magical potency by aligning the self with life’s ceaseless changes.
- influence the way the flux unfolds.
- tweak the flow so it bends in the direction of justice, beauty, truth, and love – for everyone.
- be a revolutionary.
- be both wrathful insurrectionaries and exuberant lovers of life.
- cultivate cheerful buoyancy.
- overthrow the sour, puckered mass hallucination that the selfish haters package and promote as “reality.”
- keep our imaginations wild and hungry and free.
- be both disciplined and rowdy.
- overthrow the toxic rot that this stupid bully and his thugs embody and perpetrate.
- a natural style of revolution is incremental, persistent, and diligent.
- It’s fun.
- compost the death-culture’s idiocies. Also pollinate tomorrow’s gardens with seeds of benevolent mischief, exuberant artistry, and erotic glee.
- welcome activations and inspirations in small, mundane moments.
- pulse protests with the rhythms of both fury and fertility.
- the malignant Empire’s toxic nightmares will get their last sick hurrah and then collapse in decay.
- retrograde bigots will putrefy and poison from within, clearing the way for our empathy and tenderness to thrive.
- a patient and persistent approach that understands real change unfolds over time and is the result of sustained effort, collaboration, and adaptability.
- to strive to demolish racism is also to work to dismantle misogyny. Fighting to end ecocidal terrorism by corporations is inextricably linked to reducing the gaping gap between the rich and poor. And so on.
- Bottom line: whatever hurts other people, hurts us.
Here is a ballad that works perfectly: A Little Bit of Everything by Dawes.

Words to live by. We are constantly seeking either affirmation or correction, for those who understand that our personal narrative can always use expansion, are open to the views of others who may offer us insights.
To me, the evil in society manifests from those who firmly believe they have a lock on whatever they refer to as “truth “. Their ideas are set in concrete and are immutable. More often than not these folks are also steeped in entitlement and view the world from a myopic perch where they cannot or will not even attempt to feel empathy for those less fortunate or privileged.
Unfortunately, for most of the world, these people are currently leading us down a path of self-destruction. As individuals we do what we can to mitigate the damage but for the most part we can do little more than watch as our ship continues to sink.
The imagination flashes with scenes from the Titanic movie. Stories, every story is told differently by the story teller. Prospectively – we are the shuttle of the future. Every thing and every word matters.
