Monday morning, waking early before light, — couldn’t sleep. What can one do but adjust… I suppose the loss of anyone is a stand-alone experience, an uprooting, a sensation of gratitude and regret. Fuck… Al’s passing was timely in that his living years were full. I mean his stories “ran over,” as a glass of beer poured on a warm summer’s day overflows with foam and flavor. Still, from my standpoint and that of others who knew him, his departure was too soon. Al Lykins. A friend who felt like a brother.
Al would approve of this tune. The lyric celebrates the electricity of male-female attraction, that difference, and the spark-of-freedom conveyed by this exuberant scene.
