Yummy Cherries
Can you think of anything more yummy than a bowl of cherries? Maybe it has been a very long time since you’ve tasted fresh cherries in springtime. When we become adult we tend not to indulge ourselves in such ordinary, and natural experiences of joy. Our minds are seduced by things more abstract, and more expensive: automobiles, homes, etc. Due to lack of practice, and absence of opportunity to share basic kinds of experiences with others, we may lose the vocabulary with which we were so familiar as children to understand, and truly celebrate the sensuality of a ripe cherry.
In support of the art of sensual experience, the importance of sensation, of our bodies as a fundamental dimension of knowing and living, I offer for your enjoyment what is arguably one of the greatest rock anthems. This song by Boston entitled Long Time is operatic in quality. As with all genuinely rich experiences, some patience is required. Settle in and feel the buildup in the keyboard introduction. As the instruments achieve peak intensity allow yourself to be swept along in the “river of sound and of life.” It is the river of time and to be awake, to be aware is to taste the deliciousness of all that comes our way.
It’s been such a long time
I think I should be goin’, yeah
And time doesn’t wait for me, it keeps on rollin’
Sail on, on a distant highway
I’ve got to keep on chasin’ a dream, yeah
