And You And Me

And You And Me

Cannot decide what to write this morning. Enough Nietzsche for now. Of course I will circle back to him soon enough. Cannot be helped. Like drag racing, the exercise is open-ended, like fate. You’ll lineup at the starting line one more time. Fate is not the cul de sac that everyone thinks. There’s no “The End”, a finish to the story. An endless story. That’s our role, our place in the script that we are handed when we arrived here. What about a playwright, a high-god or the devil? — impossible to tell which.

I supposed that a poem would be a fitting respite from arcane Nietzschean rumination. Wrong again. This poem seemed apt, in the light of, or better expressed “the darkness” of the recent machinations of the Trump rule. He is in the wheelhouse. Congress gathers downstairs in the mess hall for refreshments. As for the Supreme Court,  a majority are a peevish council, drunk on Originalist liquor…

We are in the age of Realpolitik. Is Trump the second coming of Otto von Bismark? Or just a George H. W. Bush without the silly grin? Anyhow the announcement comes today that oil pumped from the Venezuelan ground is now being sold by the US. The profits will be controlled by Trump. I am not on the periphery of the events in South America, not even a journalist, but a question nags me. Will the Venezuelan’s remaining in the country, the majority poor, looking to government handouts to avoid hunger, – will Caracas starve? Will a thin slice of oil profits go for food to feed them? Or, – well they deserve to “just get by”, don’t they?

Here is the poem by Charles Bukowski. No respite for now.

the terror

by Charles Bukowski

the terror is in viewing the human
face
and then hearing it talk
and watching the creature
move.
the terror is knowing its
motives.
the terror is in seeing it skinned,
opened
for internal view of the
spirit
the terror is looking at the eyes.
the terror is knowing of the
centuries of its
doings.
the terror is the unchangeability
of it.
and its multiplicity,
its duplicity, it’s
everywhere, a giant mass
of it
self-revered,
self-serving,
self-destructive,
the terror of no selves
spreading from here and now into
space,
cluttering the universe,
marring pure space,
poisoning hope,
raping chance,
going on,
this massive zero of
life
labeled
Humanity.
the terror, the
horror,
the waste of them
and you and me
through and
through

You and I are the detritus of a wild mammalian creature gone off the rails. I firmly believe these obscenely wealthy morons think there is an avatar waiting in the wings that will allow them eternal life while the remainder, the dregs, you, me, and everyone who isn’t them, will rot in the cesspool these creatures are creating. They think they will languish on Mount Olympus while the world below burns. Idiocy is clearly being inbred in the Musk/Trumps of the world.

Anyone who believes there is a means of escape from what we are bringing upon ourselves, is deluded.
