Sunday, in the Judeo-Christian tradition is the “day of rest.” That still means generally that the seventh day of the week is purposed for rest and refreshment. I tend to seek a change in my normal daily routine, enjoy spending time out of doors, and in conversation with my wife. Both of us are avid readers, and often discuss ideas discovered from great writers.
I’ve mentioned that good food, music, and good fellowship are resources for nurturing community, as well as personal well-being. I wonder if Nature encompasses the communion, texture, and the rhythm of all elements of well-being?
There was a gentle snow fall late Saturday. I captured this photo of snow build-up on the edges of a metal lantern than has decorated the back yard for at least ten years. I remember the visit to Cedarburg Wisconsin, when the lantern was purchased. Delicate ice crystals, cascading from the old lantern…….
We spent the afternoon today at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. For mid-February the sunny day was warm enough for comfortable walking. The lake surface was frozen as far as my eye could see. Vehicles were parked far out on the ice, with many ice fishermen at work. We spent at least an hour reading at Barrique Wine and Brew Bar, with a fine sight-line of the lake. The dessert, chocolate mousse, was visually delightful,–and who does not love chocolate?
Finally, I listened to a Gary Puckett CD this morning while reading the paper. One song really spoke to me. I could not continue reading. Puckett’s sensitive vocal quality, and the lyrics were like an arrow into my heart. I read the title on the CD jacket: To Make You Feel My Love by B. Dylan. Yes, that Dylan! wondered if a you tube of that tune could be found? Surprise, here it is, the one on my CD.
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my loveWhen the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my loveI know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I will never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belongI’d go hungry; I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
No, there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my loveThe storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yetI could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love
To make you feel my love
