A Great Day
I was not there. A prior commitment oblidged me to be in Chicago on Friday evening. At that time the grand opening of The Long Grove Confectionary store and the adjoining sister company, the Long Grove Coffee Company was held in splendid fashion by Towner Green. The weather gods smiled upon the event and guests conversed in comfort 
by the two establishments I am told. Naturally much food and libation were consumed.
I freely confess that the dividing line between the sacred and the secular is indistinct as far as I am concerned. I think that every encounter, and every transaction can be
an opportunity to establish or to strengthen bonds of friendship and mutual assistance. I think this is our sacred duty, the “why” of life. Each of us as an individual is inherently vulnerable as to our well being. And who is not often insecure, which we take pains to mask? By coming together around a cause that we can all unequivocally support (good coffee and fine chocolate) we strengthen the bonds of fellowship and the common humanity which are our heritage.
So kudos to Craig Leva, to Mary, to Ethel, to Brandon and to many other members of the capable staff for what they have accomplished. May they live long and prosper, to borrow a worthy phrase.
We are all made better for these two gathering places in Long Grove.
