Benefits Of Tedium

Benefits Of Tedium

Geneva, the Fox river Valley is overcast, rain is expected for this afternoon.  That is well, as growing things are eager for a drink before the sleep of frost comes.  All things in due time is the rule-of-thumb.

Reading the Zhuangzi, the admonition is to forget oneself, to be oblivious to the human, that voice in my head.  How is that to be accomplished?  It is self defeating to try, to do one’s best to just be.  Maybe this happens, as one goes about the minutiae, the tedium of one’s ordinary life, to plough your own field…  Given my insecure grasp of self, it is inevitable that I press for improvement, for more and better,– an open ended quest, never enough.  A hamster wheel of chasing one’s tail.

My radio alarm activated this morning.  My first memory of this day, a report that the invasion of Gaza is about to begin.  Civilians were advised to get out, to flee.  How?  Flee to where?  Palestinians welcomed in Israel?  Some would go to Egypt if they could.  Can they?  No place to go.  Only remain in your home to die.
