Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills

At last I have seen Beverly Hills.  Visiting was not on my bucket list of places, but I have been aware for much of my life that movie stars and other entertainers live in Beverly Hills.  Beverly Hills is storied for it’s luxurious shopping, for the glitz and glamor cultivated by those who are successful in the entertainment industry.

This photo was captured through the windshield of a wide boulevard, tall palms separating the traffic from the homes on the sides of the street.  There is a lot of green in Beverly Hills.  Homes are magnificently landscaped.  There is a great variety of living vegetation affording privacy and beauty to the homes.

It occurred to me that the Los Angeles basin is on the edge of a desert.  Rainfall is scarce.  How do you grow a palm tree in the desert?  Irrigation.

A breaking news story, today California announced emergency water restrictions.
