Divine Beer Cheese Soup
Brenden asked if I had written yet about “the soup.” I had not. But only because I was working on a larger, time consuming project. At the Long Grove Coffee Shop, Brenden, the in-house chef for the Long Grove Confectionary, brings in a pot of his specialty soup to the Coffee Shop. Arriving later than my usual arrival time around noon this past Friday, I was lucky to the last bowl of available soup. The server scraped the bottom of the pot.
As expected the meal of soup, with an apple that I brought with me, and a Diet Pepsi was perfect for a chilly late autumn day. The silky smoothe cheddar flavor was infused with the smoky hops-tinged flavor of the Marvelous Beer from Buffalo Creek Brewing. Buffalo Creek Brewing is within a stones throw of the coffee shop. You can almost see it from here. Brenden’s soup “is on” every Friday at the coffee shop. Stop in if you are in the area for a delicious, affordable lunch. Chances are Brenden will be on hand for your feedback about his latest combination of flavors in a soup bowl. A lunch to be remembered for between five and six dollars.
