Friday
The end of the work week has arrived; a grey overcast winter day with a forecast of snow. Would we be better off if we did not know what is coming? Would we live more contentedly in the present moment, since less about the future would be displayed for speculation on our cell phone screens? What is media, but a confluence of technology, our use of scientific facts to give us upper middle-class, and upper-class individuals our own portal to the future….. I think that’s in the main what we have. Admittedly a lot more is going on. But is not this the main event, the crystal-carnival-show to which we have been granted admission?
Technology as a means for disseminating peace, love and understanding? That’s just some people talking. Peace, love and understanding is a piss-poor approach to selling product and services. The satisfied individual will buy less because he or she is in touch with what the body indicates that it needs, the basic requirements for well being, which would include beauty and meaning. Try to imagine such a world. That’s not easy.
It’s the end of another week of Trump rule. And a heavy snow is to begin later today. So, settle in and enjoy the latter, and do what you can within the bounds of civility, and collaboration with fellow citizens to resist the former.
Somehow it seems appropriate to conclude the work week with this great song. Enjoy this youtube rendition of Desperado by the Eagles.
Rest in peace, Glenn Frey.

Desperado
Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
You been out ridin’ fences for so long now
Oh, you’re a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin’ you
Can hurt you somehowDon’t you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She’ll beat you if she’s able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best betNow it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can’t getDesperado, oh, you ain’t gettin’ no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they’re drivin’ you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that’s just some people talkin’
Your prison is walking through this world all aloneDon’t your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won’t snow and the sun won’t shine
It’s hard to tell the night time from the day
You’re losin’ all your highs and lows
Ain’t it funny how the feeling goes away?Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin’, but there’s a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you (let somebody love you)
You better let somebody love you before it’s too late
