It’s A Human Sign
Monday, a mild day with 45 degrees F at 6:30AM. The poet James Dickey suggests in his poem To Rise To Walk Again that non-human mammals live in a perpetual paradise. That is, they live in a state of perpetual renewal. A consciousness that is filled with each successive moment would be one that is oriented toward the texture of every aspect of the zone of their being. No regret for what might have been. And no anxiety for what the future could bring… Would “that” be paradise, the ascendancy of renewal?

I like the lilting movement of this tune. I feel good when I hear the first few notes on the radio while I am driving. The lyrics suggest the intrigue and the fated dimension of a male-female relationship. Life is sensual, full stop. Bring yourself to confess difference, attraction and repulsion is the sizzle that animates life, – or you’ll fail to see the entire point.
Laura and I have been together for many years. The odds are always long. It’s a bad bet, one that we had to make. A roll of the dice.
Well done Elton John and Dua Lipa! Cold Cold Heart

Interesting thought though the perception of a mammalian paradise can only be an anthropomorphic projection on the part of a human. To have a true sense of an Eden-esk environment, a creature must also have an awareness of the opposite possibility, that is the potential existence of a dystopian hell. Animals, aside from the human version, are only aware of the present moment, as you stated above.
So in my estimation these critters are neither in paradise nor in hell. They just are.
Point well made. They just are…
