The Academy Awards

Like many Americans I watched the Academy Awards last night.  I appreciate Jimmy Kimmel’s wit, and his fearless opposition to the racist and neo-fascist intentions of the Republican party.  On balance the crowd in the auditorium are pro-humanity, and to that extent they are “my people.”  The ABC  Oscars event presented two high points for me.  Ironically one was a twitter ad.  This line stuck in my consciousness:

A bridge,–not a border.  -Twitter Ad

The second element was the spoken word and musical number by Common and Andra Day,  Stand Up for Something.
