Ticking Of The Clock
Read more of the Zhuangzi this morning. Stories concatenated in succession, the writer considers that his thinking, his point of view could be, might be, or was, radically different — even reversed. “This” is easily “that” in another context. In a time past I thought differently…
I am entranced by this love song, every time the radio playlist offers the tune by Heart, my “soul,” my inner voice says, “yes, yes, yes!”
Time itself is relative, that sense of awareness catalyzed by a relationship to another human being. Solitude was felt differently when in that-before-time, prior to your acquaintance with the “one” who ignites your desire. Now separation is painful, and longing envelops the consciousness of self. In a present which seems endless you are captured by the desire to be completed by the presence of that “other.”
How do I get you alone, How do I get you alone, — endlessly echos in the consciousness.
“Alone” became Heart’s biggest hit, reaching number one in the USA and Canada. It is also their most-successful single in the UK, where it peaked on number three on the UK Singles Chart.
Alone
By Heart
I hear the ticking of the clock
I’m lying here the room’s pitch dark
I wonder where you are tonight
No answer on the telephone
And the night goes by so very slow
Oh I hope that it won’t end though
Alone
Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
You don’t know how long I have wanted
To touch your lips and hold you tight, oh
You don’t know how long I have waited
and I was going to tell you tonight
But the secret is still my own
and my love for you is still unknown
Alone
Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
Alone, alone
