Today’s NY Times front page article reads: For The third Year, The Earth in 2016 Hits Record Heat. Today is Thursday, the last day before Friday, when Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th president of the united States. The old president, Barack Obama, fulfilled the responsibility of office along the lines written by Lao Tsu.
Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish–too much handling will spoil it.
The incoming president is of the opposite mind.
I have a friend who does not accept the overwhelming consensus of climatologists that the earth is warming at an accelerating rate due to human activity. He says that he is willing “to wait and see.” My friend also admits that he is unclear about which of the incoming president’s statements are credible, that is how to separate the obfuscations and bluster, from authentic expressions of intent. He is willing “to wait and see” how the 45th president performs.
