I have nothing specific in mind, this morning. This text merits bringing to the fore for consideration. Scratch the surface of the widespread dissatisfaction with American society, and you will find those who wish to turn the country over to a sociopath are convinced that doom is in store. Divine judgment is near. There’s involuntary recoil from female sexuality, revulsion of “Hollywood” corruption, repudiation of civil rights for gay and transgender citizens, and a palpable fear of secular liberals, – those who prefer democracy to autocracy… Naturally this mob is a ready made opportunity for anyone who simply has a taste for more power.

The invention of “sin” is the conception of a poison pill.

There is no shortcut remedy for that fantasized contamination. Not even a sociopath, failed entertainer/real estate magnate who promises willy-nilly to deal with enemies…

It is the conscientious,
and not the unscrupulous,
who have suffered so greatly from
exhortations to penitence and the fear of hell,

especially if they
happened to be men of imagination.

In other words,
a gloom
has been cast over the lives
of those who had the greatest need
of cheerfulness and agreeable images

—not only for the sake
of their own consolation and
recovery from themselves,
but that humanity itself might take delight in them
and absorb a ray of their beauty.

Alas, how much
superfluous cruelty and torment

have been brought about
by those religions
which invented sin!

and by those men who, by means of such religions, desired to
reach the highest enjoyment of their power!

The Dawn of Day by Friedrich Nietzsche, trans. by J. M. Kennedy, aphorism 53

What of a song for today?  WTF, life has been, is and will be a wild ride!  I think Smoke On The Water, the signature song by Deep Purple is about right.  The tune memorializes the conflagration of the Montreux Casino in Geneva, Switzerland on December 4, 1971. The tune is nearly five minutes in length and includes what is considered the most iconic guitar riff of all time. And I liked this video best… Enjoy
