Not What We Thought

Not What We Thought

THE SECOND COMING

We see,
But not with the light of day.
It’s the light of no solar star.
It’s the light of our own theory,
The theory of energy that appeared in 1905.
Along with cinematography and aviation,
Grand vectors of audiovisual and automotive
Transformation of sensory experiences.
Transport and transmission revolutions.
With the speed of light
Space and time are amalgamated,
A fusion/confusion of hereto
Irreconcilable variables.
I have become a relativist interface–
Like the iphone held in my hand.

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

(Thanks to Paul Virilio and William Blake)
