Whimsy

Whimsy

In the aftermath of some hours of soaking rain I took a walk in the yard.  The rain was welcome in that trees and shrubs benefit from a thorough soaking of the soil.  Water is life.  I suppose that I am similar to any other mammal that moves around following a ample rainfall, everything appears more magical, more alive,…  On further reflection are other mammals able to make a  fine comparison, to contemplate the immediate change caused by a rain?

Whimsy comes to mind, — that vegetation expresses an exuberant vitality. There’s an excess of playfulness, a radical contingency of color, the enhancement of form.  Everything attuned to everything else, as when one laughs with friends over a good joke.  Nature plays or so it seems to me.

I gathered these images walking about the yard.  Some presented themselves as I walked along the edge of Braeburn Marsh.  Anyway why be satisfied with any electronic representation?  Should I not dedicate more time to first hand appreciation of  my surroundings?
